The former Political Kingpin of Coast region and the immediate former Cabinet Secretary for Tourism, Najib Balala, traces his ancestral origin to Hadhrami people.

“It has been 17 years since I visited family and friends in Seiyun, Yemen.” Hon. Najib Balala’s tweet.

The Ex Tourism Cabinet Secretary jetted to Seiyun – Republic of Yemen which is his ancestral land.

He was received by the Under Secretary of the Governate of Hadhramouth Eng. Higham Al Saeedi, DG of Security Brig. General Abdullah Salmeen Bin Habish, DG Ministry of Tourism Ali Muhammed Al Saggaf, clan Chief, friends and family at Seiyun International Airport.

In 1998 he was appointed as the mayor of Mombasa. He only served for one year and later resigned in early 1999.
