Safaricom 5g expansion, a telecommunications company based in Kenya, has revealed its plans to extend the availability of its 5G service to 35 additional counties.
This move is part of Safaricom’s ongoing commitment to empower customers in regions with 5G coverage, offering high-speed mobile internet access.
The newly included counties, such as Bomet, Busia, Isiolo, Kitui, Mandera, Migori, Tharaka-Nithi, Trans Nzoia, Homa Bay, West Pokot, Embu, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, and Turkana, will now benefit from Safaricom’s 5G network.
This expansion complements the existing coverage in counties like Nairobi, Kiambu, Mombasa, Kisumu, Uasin Gishu, Nakuru, Garissa, Kajiado, Kisii, Machakos, Kakamega, Kilifi, Siaya, Kericho, Kwale, Laikipia, Marsabit, Meru, Narok, Nyeri, and Vihiga.

Peter Ndegwa, the CEO of Safaricom, emphasized that the introduction of 5G bundles and 5G Wi-Fi will enable mobile data users, households, and businesses in 5G-supported areas to enjoy lightning-fast connectivity.
This initiative aligns with Safaricom’s goal of bridging the digital divide in underserved communities, providing access to essential services like healthcare, and fostering economic growth by connecting small businesses to new opportunities.
Ndegwa also highlighted that Safaricom’s expanded 5G coverage is enhancing Kenya’s premier internet network, offering customers the chance to explore the potential of 5G technology. Safaricom’s pioneering launch of 5G in Kenya took place in October 2022.
Furthermore, Safaricom has increased the 5G Wi-Fi data volumes for its Home Consumer packages, offering options like 400GB for Sh3,499, 800GB for Sh5,999, and 1500GB at Sh9,999.
Additionally, Safaricom is providing 5G data bundles to cater to its over 500,000 customers with 5G smartphones, allowing them to experience exceptionally fast browsing speeds.
New 5G customers can also redeem a free 5GB bundle through the my Safaricom App.
