President William Ruto has recently come under fire for allegedly removing the name of former president Uhuru Kenyatta off a Mount Kenya project that had previously been announced.
A screenshot from a post by Azimio politician Robert Alai from 2019 on August 20 depicts Uhuru Kenyatta opening the Thika-Magumu Road.
The Kenya National Highways Authority is responsible for this position. The former President is seen working alongside the road contractors in the images on the page.
The same Thika-Magumu road is reportedly being formally opened by the current Head of State in the accompanying post, which is dated Saturday, September 30, 2023 (yesterday).

Alai criticised President Ruto on social media, saying it was disrespectful to replace the former Head of State’s name with his own so that it would appear that he was the one conducting the work.
“Hello President Ruto, you can’t be seen to be working just because you are deleting the name of President Uhuru in projects and replacing it with yours,” Kileleshwa ward MCA Robert Alai stated.
“Please take meaningful action. Do not restart Uhuru initiatives. You haven’t planned any projects or begun any of them,” he continued.
