Bill Gates Daughter Phoebe, criticised the “misconceptions and conspiracy theories” that circulated on social media about her family in response to the severe racial abuse she received for dating a black guy.
When she posted a couple pictures of herself cuddling up to fellow Stanford student Robert Ross on Instagram back in July, Phoebe, 20, initially revealed that she was seeing him.
Almost immediately, a slew of unpleasant trolls began to post derogatory remarks on the images, with some criticising her for dating a person of colour and others charging that he was only using her for her money.
In a recent interview with The Information, she addressed the criticism and declared that she was “done” with people making light of her relationship.
The college student, who has more than 195,000 followers on Instagram and more than 64,000 followers on TikTok, sat down with the outlet to talk about the highs and lows of receiving so much attention online.
When asked what the worst part of being a social media sensation was, the 20-year-old said: “The misconceptions and conspiracy theories about my family and my relationship with my boyfriend.”

Additionally, there are recordings of her and her mother, Melinda Gates, debating political issues like abortion rights and women’s rights.
Her most popular TikTok video features her father testing out the Box Ball, a little, red ball that is fastened to a headband with a bungee cord. He had received it for Christmas.
