On Tuesday, the CS took a tour of Shakahola forest to evaluate the current condition of the area. This was due to the ongoing operation to recover the bodies of Mackenzie’s indoctrinated followers, which was in its fifth day. Related Unmasking Pastor Makenzie’s Deadly Cult
Kindiki’s statement holds the individual accountable of genocide, implying that the pastor is liable to respond to his actions before the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Our rescue efforts have been enhanced starting today, with a boost in staff numbers. A collaborative operation, involving various agencies and prioritizing security, will be executed, declared the CS.
At the time of publication, the death toll had risen to 89 due to the discovery of an additional 16 bodies that were exhumed. Additionally, three individuals were rescued.
