Mother and Friend Arrested for Killing 4-Year-Old Boy Over Soiling Himself

Nairobi, Kenya – A mother and friend arrested for killing 4-year-old boy, whose lifeless body was abandoned at Mama Lucy Hospital mortuary under suspicious circumstances.

The suspect, identified as Melvin Owuor, reportedly took her child’s body to the mortuary on December 9, 2024, accompanied by her friend. However, after following initial procedures and reporting the incident to the police as advised by morgue officials, both women vanished without a trace. Their sudden disappearance, coupled with switching off their phones, raised suspicions, prompting the facility’s mortician to alert authorities at Mowlem Police Station.

A swift investigation was launched by detectives from Dandora, working alongside officers from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) based in Nairobi. Their probe uncovered horrifying details surrounding the child’s death.

Owuor had initially claimed that her son had died in his sleep. However, forensic examinations and witness accounts contradicted her version of events. Investigators discovered that the boy had succumbed to severe injuries inflicted by his own mother. The alleged motive behind the assault was that the child had soiled himself while answering the call of nature.

The brutal punishment reportedly led to the child’s tragic demise. Instead of seeking medical help or reporting the matter immediately, Owuor and her friend opted to take the body to the mortuary before disappearing, a move that deepened suspicions.
