Lyon paves the way for Chelsea in CL semis after being knocked out of the Women’s Champions league by Chelsea in a Penalty shoot out at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea looked to be heading out on their home soil when Sara Dabritz came in as a sub and fired Lyon into a 2-0 lead in the second half of the extra-time. Sara’s goal added to the Vanessa’s strike in the normal time thus overturning the Chelsea’s one goal deficit from the first leg.

The center referee Ivan Martincic was instructed by the Vedeo Assistant referee to have a look pitch side monitor. After a review of the Challenge, Ivana awarded Chelsea a penalty which was smashed to the top left corner of the net by the substitute Maren Mjelde leveling the aggregate to 2-2 thus resulting to penalty shoot outs. As a result Chelsea knocked out Lyon on a 4-3 victory and they will be facing Barcelona in the Semi-finals first leg at Stamford Bridge in the weekend of April 22/23(date and time to be confirmed.) The second leg will be held at Nou Camp the following weekend(Date and time to be confirmed)
