Nairobi, Kenya – ( IG Kanja ) The Inspector General of the National Police Service, Mr. Douglas Kanja, has praised the success of Operation “Ondoa Jangili” in restoring peace and security in Isiolo and Marsabit Counties. Speaking during a media interview at the NPS Headquarters on February 22, 2025, IG Kanja highlighted the remarkable achievements of the multi-agency security team involved in the operation.

According to IG Kanja, the security initiative has significantly improved the situation in the affected regions, allowing local communities to resume their daily activities, including the reopening of schools. This marks a major milestone in efforts to restore stability and socio-economic progress in the area.
The operation, which was launched in response to rising insecurity and banditry, has seen a significant reduction in crime rates, with law enforcement agencies dismantling numerous hideouts used by criminal elements. IG Kanja acknowledged the dedication and professionalism of the officers on the ground, noting that their relentless efforts have played a crucial role in neutralizing security threats and restoring confidence among residents.

Despite these successes, IG Kanja emphasized that the security forces remain on high alert. He assured the public that operations would continue to dismantle any remaining elements of the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) and associated criminal networks to prevent further threats. He further noted that intelligence-led operations would be intensified to curb any resurgence of criminal activities in the region.

Furthermore, the Inspector General reaffirmed the commitment of the National Police Service to working closely with local leaders and community members to enhance security and ensure lasting peace in the region. He encouraged residents to collaborate with security forces by providing timely information that could help in apprehending criminals and preventing crime.
Leaders from Isiolo and Marsabit have also expressed their support for the operation, acknowledging the positive impact it has had on the lives of their constituents. Local administrators and community elders have commended the government’s efforts in addressing long-standing security challenges and pledged to foster a peaceful coexistence among different communities in the region.
